Inspired Thoughts…
The first part of the year is equally refreshing and frustrating. So many things we have committed to and yet we wait for the new year to have a clean slate. Everyone is "detoxing" or "cleansing" and that is totally awesome! Sometimes a reset is just what one needs. But.......how will you not only detox your body but also detox your stress of the "to-do's" you place on your shoulders?
I am just an email or call away.
If you want to jazz up your water a little bit today, feel free to infuse it with fresh fruit, cucumbers or fresh herbs. This can be a refreshing way to make sure you’re getting your water.
Here’s how: first, if you’re not using organic produce, be sure to peel off the skin. Wash it well to get off any residue. If you’re using larger produce (like pineapple or cucumbers), cut it into small pieces.
Simply add about ¼ cup (you don’t need much!) into your water, and if you have some on-hand, you can add fresh mint or basil for an added kick.
This week’s pose – it is all about relaxation, regrouping and re-inspiring yourself…The holidays ARE over and I imagine, if you are like me, you are being thrown back into the thick of it all.
While this is probably a good thing – maybe business is picking up for you, OR finally slowing down for you to take a breath, either way, each stage requires some recovery and down time. Gearing up for the Spring already? Use this pose to ground yourself before you turn the lights out each night and allow your body to slowly ease into sleep. Have a beautiful week!
Legs Up The Wall Pose (vip-par-ee-tah car-AHN-ee)
viparita = turned around, reversed, inverted
karani = doing, making, action
As with any inversion, these should be avoided if you have serious eye problems, such as glaucoma. With serious neck or back problems only perform this pose with the supervision of an experienced teacher. If your feet begin to tingle during this pose, bend your knees, touch your soles together, and slide the outer edges of your feet down the wall, bringing your heels close to your pelvis. In addition to a bolster or blanket for support. Once in the pose, bend your knees and slide your feet down the wall, but keep your ankles flexed, soles parallel to the ceiling. This pose aids in the following:
• Anxiety
• Arthritis
• Digestive problems
• High and low blood pressure
• Insomnia
• Migraine
• Mild depression
• Respiratory ailments
• Menstrual cramps
• Premenstrual syndrome
• Menopause
• Relieves tired or cramped legs and feet
• Gently stretches the back legs, front torso, and the back of the neck
• Relieves mild backache
• Calms the mind
Preheat Oven to 350
Hammer the chicken breast so they flatten to even thickness
